Default 96 Vmax 600 XT

I bought this sled a couple of years ago it was very well maintained and stock. I was just curious if there is anything I should be concerned about, it has about 6000 miles on it.

I would also like to know if there is anything to improve from stock without breaking the bank or buying an upgrade.

You should be looking at a top end before it gets you, but i got 4000 on mine and have not done it yet ( bad me). I put viper skis on, made a bid diff. thined the head gasket and such. do a search lots of info. Start with the search and see where it goes.

first off time for rings to keep things fresh and running tip top.

second they were a little hard on fuel and oil so you may want to adjust things there(info on that on the site),and re clutch to run 7800 at WOT.

them were good sleds with some TLC and tunning..

Fun sled for sure Love mine, the plastic ski's really seemed to help you get pick up sets in the summer for 100-150 i put a set off an early 2k skidoo (02 i think) Instant change.

Have you pulled the suspension out and checked the cross shafts and bushing i would bet you need a few bushings and maybe a shaft or two.

The guy I bought it from said he had the sled gone through and spent like $ 300.00 before he sold it to me. He is a trustworthy friend however I should check anyway. I'm new to working on sleds. Where can I get a service manual without breaking the bank?

I think daman is right i believe they have the service guide on ebay on CD, kinda hard to find for 94-96 sleds.

I would check it over as its very easy to miss things like the suspension bushings (i found out the hardway).

go to ebay and do a search for 310198235715 or yamaha vmax manual. There is a cd version of a manual from midwest manual. It is around 8 bucks. Once purchased the gentlemen will send you a link to the manual so you have it while waiting for the CD to arrive. I have one for a 94 max and it includes all vmax and venture sleds 94 to 2006. Has helped me out greatly. There are other ones on ebay also.
